PDM is an intensive 3-week course for development managers (DM) tasked with running development organizations. PDM focuses on the DM as strategist/planner (Week 1), as mobilizer (Week 2), and as organizational leader (Week 3). For development managers running development organizations.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- To deepen the understanding of social, political, ecological and cultural dimensions of development including emerging trends and issues;
- To further integrate the functions and skills needed by managers towards managing and leading organizations; and
- To be able to formulate strategies for long-term viability and sustainability of development initiatives and institutions.
PROGRAM DESIGN
WEEK 1 - MODULE 1:The Development Environment (The Development Manager as Strategist)
WEEK 2 - MODULE 2:Engaging Stakeholders (The Development Manager as Mobilizer)
WEEK 3 - MODULE 3:Managing Organizations (The Development Manager as Key Decision Maker)
WEEK 3 - MODULE 4:Ensuring Sustainability (The Development Manager as Institution Builder)
PARTICIPANTS
Key Decision-makers in government agencies, non-government organizations, donor institutions, business firms (involved in policy-making and/or program operations), and professionals with interest in rural and depressed urban areas. Participants must also be nominated by their respective organizations and be exempted from work-related responsibilities for the duration of the course.
PROGRAM FEE
Program fee is US$ 2,650.00. This fee includes all sessions, course materials, snacks and lunches. Does not include travel or accommodations. Accommodations may be arranged through the program coordinator and paid for separately.
