The Four days training course on ‘Essentials of Humanitarian Practice’ (EHP) is a foundation course on emergency response and is considered as a prerequisite by RedR for undertaking assignments in Humanitarian Relief. The course is recognized and used by major relief agencies. The aim of the course is to prepare emergency personnel for the realities of life on an emergency assignment so that they are able to contribute as effectively as possible.
COURSE CONTENT
Provides an understanding of the international context of emergency relief work, explaining the distinctions between natural disasters and conflict-induced emergencies, and provides an introduction to the international humanitarian system. Other topics covered include: an introduction to International Humanitarian Law, Minimum standards and Indicators, Managing teams in Relief operations, Personal health and Safety, Security Risks, dealing with the media, and Professional and Personal development Planning for Relief work.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This is an introductory course suitable for anyone who has recently started working in or is thinking about entering the humanitarian sector, including staff of NGOs, Government agencies, and UN agencies.
